Chairman's Corner

Dear AIMH Members,

Amelia Island is a very special place attracting people from all parts of the United States and the world. Many who visit choose to stay in the area and join a community of families with roots stretching back hundreds of years to a few days. Out of this ferment grows the Amelia Island of today with its lively cultural and arts scene, great restaurants and interesting people. The Amelia Island Museum of History is one of the jewels of Amelia Island and our programs and exhibits are an important part ofwhat makes our community vibrant and interesting--livable. As one of our visitors wrote, "it is a jewel of a Museum."

The Museum has an outstanding staff. However, our Museum's strength comes its members and our many volunteers; their collective knowledge, energy and willingness to support and participate in programs and fundraising events. We have a superb and generous membership. Yet without our volunteers the Museum as we know it would cease to exist. I thank all of our members and donors, but have a special thank you for our many volunteers. If you are not yet a volunteer, please consider getting involved; share in the fun of celebrating our Island's rich history. April is National Volunteer month when we celebrate our volunteers. What better time to volunteer at the Museum.

Be sure to mark May 15, 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., on your calendars to attend the History Alive, Old Tyme Carnival at the Museum.
