The Amelia Island Museum of History will host author and historian Frank Ofeldt for its May 3rd on 3rd lecture. Ofeldt will discuss his newest book, “Fort Clinch, Fernandina and the Civil War,” published by The History Press. The lecture will cover the role that the fort and Fernandina played during the war, from the build-up of Confederate forces to the seizure and occupation by Union forces. Additionally, he will speak about how Fernandina was a safe haven for former slaves seeking freedom and how veterans worked together after the war to bring Fernandina into its Golden Era.

Attendance is free for museum members with a suggested donation of $5 for nonmembers. Masks are mandatory. Seating is limited, first come, first served. This program is wheelchair accessible.
